Setting Expectations in Winnipeg, MB

Dr. Bryan DiMarco

What should a new patient expect during their first visit at Renew Dental?

What you can expect as a new patient when you come into Renew Dental is that you're going to be greeted with a warm welcome and welcomed into our office. What we're going to do next is collect some diagnostics so that we can get an idea of what's happening in your specific situation and also have a conversation about what you're looking to accomplish with your teeth and your smile.

The next thing we're going to do is a thorough examination so that we can take a look at all of the issues that are going on and come up with a game plan on how we can fix them for you. We will always go through what we found and what options are available to fix it. The way that we try to do this with all of our patients is by using good, simple communication so that you truly understand what's going on and what you can do to fix it.

The last thing that you can expect is that we will review all the finances with you to ensure that you're aware of what's going on and what's involved with getting your treatment done so that there are no surprises at the end of treatment.

What should I expect if I'm nervous or afraid?

For our patients who are a bit more nervous about coming to the dentist, what you can expect is that we will do things on your schedule. If you need a little bit of time in between, say, when we take some dental x-rays or during other parts of the procedure, we're happy to accommodate that for you so you're comfortable.

The other thing that you can expect is that when we talk about planning your treatment, we'll definitely keep that in mind, and we can talk about some options that are available for patients who are nervous to help them get through their treatment and get fully healthy.

What should I expect if I come in with dental pain?

If you are coming into the office with pain, that is going to be our number one priority. We want to get you out of pain as quickly as possible. What does that mean? We're going to prioritize that tooth, take a look at it, come up with a plan, and try to get that treatment done as soon as possible so that we can get you out of pain.

What is going to happen after my visit to Renew Dental?

At Renew Dental, we have treatment coordinators whose sole role is to work with our patients in order to help them figure out the financial portions of treatment and also help them with scheduling their appointments. What you can expect is that the treatment coordinator will sit down with you. They'll review all of those options that are available to you, and they'll come up with a plan in terms of helping to get you healthy.

For some patients, that will be simply scheduling the appointments and getting going with their treatment. For others who may have questions or need to talk to their spouse, the treatment coordinator will help you navigate that and come up with a plan so that we can get you in and get you healthy.

What can I expect in terms of communication and transparency at Renew Dental?

At our office, we believe that communication is one of the most important parts of our patient experience. We want to make sure that we're both on the same page and that you have a great understanding of what options are available to get your mouth healthy. What that means is we try to explain everything as simply as possible and answer any questions that you may have, so that you feel confident with the treatment that we diagnose. The main reason that we do that is that we want you to feel comfortable during the entire process of coming to our office, doing your exam, and getting your treatment done.
